MISSION DE PLAIDOYER DE HAUT NIVEAU : LE DIRECTEUR DE GIABA ECHANGE AVEC LES AUTORITES NIGERIENNES
M. Edwin Harris Jr., Directeur Général du GIABA, a été reçu en audience le 07 octobre 2024 à Niamey au Niger par le Premier Ministre de la Transition, M. Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine dans le cadre de sa mission de plaidoyer de haut niveau entamée au Burkina Faso le 30 septembre 2024, et qu’il a poursuivie au Mali le 3 octobre 2024.
Comme dans ces Etats, les échanges ont porté sur les résultats du dernier rapport d’évaluation mutuelle des pays. Pour rappel, à l’issu de cette évaluation mutuelle, le Niger a été soumis au Régime Suivi Renforcé en raison des insuffisances identifiées.
A la lumière des importants progrès enregistrés dans ce processus, le Directeur Général a adressé ses vives félicitations au gouvernement nigérien. Il a exhorté le pays à soutenir davantage la Centif-Niger en vue des préparatifs du Troisième Cycle d’Évaluation Mutuelle des Etats membres du GIABA prévu en 2025.
Dans la dynamique du plaidoyer entrepris au Burkina Faso et au Mali, le Directeur Général du GIABA a également rappelé son statut d’Organisme Régional de Type GAFI. Ce faisant, il a saisi l’occasion pour exprimer le souhait du Secrétariat Général du GIABA de voir le Niger demeurer membre du GIABA, après son retrait de la CEDEAO, qui sera effectif en janvier 2024.
La rencontre a été suivie d’échanges avec le Directeur Général de la BECEDAO au Niger, M. Maman Laouali Abdou Rafa et le Président de la Centif-Niger, Correspondant National du GIABA, M. Mahamadou Harouna.
Au terme de la mission de plaidoyer de haut niveau dans les trois pays, le Directeur Général a obtenu l’engagement des autorités du Burkina Faso, du Mali et du Niger de soutenir le GIABA dans sa mission en poursuivant la collaboration et la coopération dans le cadre de la LBC/FT.
Les résultats obtenus au cours de ces missions de plaidoyer de haut niveau ont été une source d’immense satisfaction pour le Directeur Général du GIABA et les membres de sa délégation.
